With a degree in interior design and a strong background in construction, interior architecture, and furniture, Susan Nicole has been creating award winning interiors with bespoke custom furnishings for her clients for the past 16 years.  Understanding that beauty is in the play of harmony and tension, walking that delicate line of balance, she designs spaces that are the perfect blend of form and function, uniquely suited to her clients' lifestyles.  

Originally from the East Coast, she developed a love of history and was influenced by the classic architecture and design there, especially in Boston.  Susan's early career began with a home builder where she learned the nuances of creating and drafting new home design plans. That led to the development and management of the builder's new design center and interior design department.  

Her career then led her to the furniture industry, learning the various vendors, markets, and artisans.  Building on her interior design schooling and expertise, she then started her company The Design House Interior Design in 2008.

With time spent in Scottsdale, Arizona pursuing adventures in the beauty of the southwest desert, Susan has expanded her design vision and love of the Californian coast to Santa Barbara, California, where she resides and practices her craft.  She enjoys frequent travels to source unique products for clients and visiting design meccas such as Palm Springs, CA for the love of mid-century modernism.  

Today her diverse background, passion for all facets of design, and gift for listening to clients' needs means she's able to provide unique interiors tailored specifically to their lifestyle.  All while she keeps to her motto:
